New Ficlets, Communities and News

Oh, wow. I can't believe the last time I posted on this thing was in February! ~_~ I'm so lame...

Well, I am alive! Well, some of you already knew that because you follow me on my livejournal, or my mailing list and got the latest update on The Bet back in...July? See? I don't even know what's going on!

Well, I've become a moderator at an Albus Severus/Scorpius fest community on LJ, so that has been taking up a bit of time. I've got a full-time job (well, sorta, it's an internship, still, but it's paid, and I'm there 40 hours a week, and hopefully REAL full time soon!), and I've generally been doing really well.

I've also written a few little tidbits! :D Check out "The Inconsequential Things", which I wrote for my LJBFF while she was away and internet-less, and the currently "Untitled", which I wrote for my new LJ friend, bryoneybrynn, and is an excerpt out of a new idea I have. (Well, technically, it's an old idea, I just never wrote it down before.) It's not actually the beginning of the story, either, so if you're confused, that's okay! Please feel free to shower me with questions...lol, I might not have a chance to answer them, but it will help me with my quest to plot the idea out properly! It's MUCH different than my usual fare...darker, but more in that the world is darker, not in that it's full of angst (though there is some).

I am very active on LJ, so if you have one, please feel free to friend me, and let me know! I might not friend you back right away, but only my super-personal stuff is friends-locked, so if you're only there to follow my fics, you can actually go to aki_hoshi_fics and watch that community, where I'll be posting my fics (and where you can review, if you don't want to email me). Each chapter of each fic will eventually have it's own post so that people can review. If you really want to just follow me and get to know me, please comment on my posts, and get to know me, and I'll friend you back. I have such a large flist now a days, it's hard to keep track of everyone!

I also have a re-design in mind for the site, but until I can get the art sorted out, it's on hold. I really like the new design, and I'm really excited to change the look of the site. (Not that I don't love it now, but I think I need something that currently expresses me more, as I am now.)

Well, I don't think I have any other news, so I'd better sign off.

Cheers!

Alive and...Writing!

Heya folks!

Well, obviously, I am still alive. Been doing a bit better than last year. I just moved (or actually, I'm still in the process of finishing moving), so that has been eating up most of my off time this month, but I still managed to write something and POST it! ^____^

On Livejournal, I'm a part of the harrylovesdraco community, and they have monthly prompt challenges. Well, the one for February had pictures for prompts rather than words, and one of them totally spurred me into writing again.

I know I haven't posted anything in almost a year (yikes!), but I finished the challenge (on time, yay!) and it's now posted here for your reading enjoyment. :D I think I might have finally kicked this block, and hopefully, we'll see more from me soon.

I want to thank everyone who still waits for me. I know how annoying it can be to have to wait for an update from an author, and for such a long time. I know it's not an update to one of my already ongoing stories, but I hope you still like it.

Much love -

Rae

10 November 2007

Well, I'm still alive...I think.

Well, for those of you who read my LiveJournal, you sorta know what's been going on with me (you know, when I actually update), but for those who don't, here's quick run-down on the "Is Rae writing anymore?" question I'm sure you all have been wondering on.

I've been slowly, oh-so-slowly, writing.

And I mean, slowly.

I've written about two pages all summer. Maybe a little more. All of this completely under-wraps one-shot I've been working on since May. It's actually on it's way to being finished, but my betas don't know a thing about it, other than it exists, and I know it'll need some work. I think once my life starts to take a more stable turn, I'll be able to think about writing more. It's not that I don't want to, honestly, it's more like...well, if I have time to write, than I have time to find a steady job, don't I? Yeah...it sucks, but I don't think my muse can churn out much in the state I'm in anyhow. Things will come when they come.

I do have a few jobs at the moment, with some on-the-side web design work, but again, it's getting to that crazy time of year, and with two jobs, one of them being retail (in a bookshop, yay!), then I might not have tons of time to write. Plus, on an important side-note, I'm also going to be moving soon, but probably after the new year.

All's crazy in...well, life. Yeah, just life. ^_^

I have been thinking about "The Bet" and "Original Sinn", so don't fret. I actually re-read OS to kinda get back into the feel of it. I can actually already see some revisions in dialogue and whatnot. :P To be taken care of later when I have more time, of course, and probably after this last chapter is finished. I also realise that it is getting to that time of year again...Christmas time, and guess what the next chapter of "The Bet" is? That's right. Christmas. ^_^ Holly cow, I can't believe it's been a year since I wanted to get that chapter out. I have decided; 2007 was the worst year for me to be writing (or doing anything, apparently), period. I can only hope 2008 will be better. ^_^ I'm thinking I'll punch out the rest of this one-shot (though, since I know it needs a lot of work, I may post it later), but I am going to try and shoot for getting the next chapter of "The Bet" out, since it was actually the story I left off on anyhow.

So, I hope some of this information is encouraging. I know a few of you have written, wondering what's up, and, story-wise, this is it. Life-wise, well, you might wanna read my LJ, if you have the time. I need to update it, but I'll probably do that tomorrow.

I want you all to know that I am so appreciative of all of you, and your patience. No one's bugged me about coming back or updating; you've all been very supportive. I couldn't ask for better readers.

Until next time -

Rae

P.S. I've also, over time, been adding some of Sam's new HP artwork to her section. She also has her working portfolio up, which I linked, if you'd like to see it. Please let her know what you think!
